Our own specialist Sports and Exercise medicine Consultant – Dr Alex Nieper – offers his expertise from our Moorgate clinic in London. With his extensive background in elite sport he is on hand to provide the highest standard of diagnosis and treatment and will work closely alongside our Atherapy physiotherapists to ensure you receive the multidisciplinary team approach you require.

About Dr Alex Nieper

I am a senior Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine and have worked with professional athletes since 2001. I was Club Doctor in the Football Premier League for 10 years, seven of these with Chelsea FC, thereafter I was Team Doctor for the English and Swiss National Football Team. I have worked in the RFU Championship and Premiership, 5 years with UK Athletics, GB Basketball and GB Hockey and the English Institute of Sport. I was also based at the UK Sport Intensive Rehabilitation Unit. And attended European and World Championships and the Olympic Games.

During my time as club and national team doctor I was part of and have led multi-disciplinary sports medicine and sports science teams. I have organized in-house CPD programs, audited club football injuries over several seasons and participated in developing an international European Football Injury Study.

I am a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (UK) and continue to teach nationally and internationally within the Sports Medicine community. I was an Appraiser and Examiner for the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (UK) and have taught at The Centre for Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Studies, Bournemouth. I was a journal reviewer for the International Journal of Sports Medicine.

My focus is to establish a firm injury diagnosis and to provide specific guidance during injury rehabilitation within a multidisciplinary network of sports physiotherapists, specialist sports Orthopaedic surgeon and allied health professionals. I use diagnostic and interventional ultrasound to accelerate injury recovery.
