        of Atherapy


Dave is our founder and CEO of Atherapy. His CV has taken him to be the Head Physiotherapist of Leeds United Football Club, Chelsea Football Club and the Performance Director of the New York Knicks Basketball Team. Has has over 26 years of experience as a physio, strength coach and Director of Performance working at the highest level in rugby, football and basketball. He is a certified PT both in the UK and the USA.

He is a qualified strength coach and holds two Masters degrees in Sports Exercise Medicine and Manipulation. Dave was the first British physio to be recruited full time for six years by an NBA franchise as a Performance Director.  He has also attended the 2010 Soccer World Cup and the 2012 European Finals.

London Regional

Since qualifying as a physiotherapist, I have been lucky enough to gain experience within a number of settings. My career started in the NHS and I then moved on to working within professional football and the private health sector before I joined Atherapy in 2016.

Since joining Atherapy I have worked within several of our London clinics building strong ties with a large number of sports and medicine professionals and Orthopaedic specialists in the area.

I assist in looking after a number of our elite clients here at Atherapy and have experienced working as the sole physiotherapist on 2 music world tours, on film sets, in recording studios and with a number of top level sports stars from premiership footballers to NFL and NBA players.

I have a wealth of knowledge and experience within the industry having worked alongside our CEO Dave Hancock since 2002. At the heart of Atherapy, I oversee a wide range of administrative tasks ranging from the account management to centralised booking throughout the group.

Dr David Porter is an internationally renowned senior football and sports medicine physician specialising in all aspects of orthobiologics.

As one of the Founding Directors of Opus Biological he is responsible for overseeing the team of physicians and laboratory scientists who have created a state of the art evidence-based stem cell treatment for patients.

Since graduating in physiotherapy from the University of Huddersfield in 2008, Richard has worked as a physiotherapist in both the NHS and in private clinics in the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia.

More recently his work has focused on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, and in this regard he has been employed by a number of professional football and rugby clubs.

I graduated with a Physiotherapy BSC(hons) in 2013 from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ and have since worked in a number of private health and sports settings both in Italy and the UK, including time at AS Roma football club.

I have vast experience in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and sports injuries. I like to use a wide range of different rehabilitative techniques to ensure clients receive the best quality experience on their path to recovery.

Following completion of my MSc in Physiotherapy I began my career working in a busy outpatient MSK clinic within the NHS before joining the Atherapy team. Prior to my Physiotherapy degree I completed a BSc in Ergonomics (Human Factors Design). The unification of these courses helps me to create a stimulating environment for rehabilitation for patients from all walks of life.

Melanie completed a degree in Sport and exercises science and attended University in the USA on sports scholarship prior to taking the physiotherapy route with a Masters in Rehabilitation Science (Physiotherapy).

Having previously worked in account management at a digital marketing agency, James graduated with a first class honours degree in physiotherapy from Cardiff University in 2016. Until moving to London, he worked in Sheffield as a Specialist Physiotherapist within the NHS.

This took James from acute hospital-based rehab to community settings, concentrating on musculoskeletal medicine. He focused on both post-operative rehabilitation and chronic conditions, enabling him to develop a problem-solving approach to assessment and build a toolbox of treatment skills, ensuring the patient is at the centre of their care.
